Questions on why the Vegas Mass shooting still remain unanswered.
All that is known about the attack is that it was carried out by apparent “lone wolf” Stephen Paddock who happened to be a white American- with no known political or religious affiliation as stated by his family.
Despite his family’s claims, ISIS is claiming that Paddock, who opened fire on concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival in Las Vegas on Sunday, killing 59 and at least 525 injured, is one of their “soldiers”, but authorities have stated there is no connection between the two parties, and that ISIS most likely wants the notoriety for being responsible for the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S history.
Paddock later commit suicide.
One man, however, seems to have the answer and its infamous televangelist Pat Robertson. Robertson claims that attacks like this occur because Americans have a ‘profound disrespect for authority’, including the President.
You heard it- Robertson he is equating Patterson’s terrorist acts to blamed on those protesting police brutality or the wrongs of the President. He is saying that this was caused by political dissent and uppity folks who just won’t stand idly by and be oppressed.
As reported by Patheos:
“Violence in the streets, ladies and gentlemen. Why is it happening?”
“The fact that we have disrespect for authority—there is profound disrespect of our president, all across this nation. They say terrible things about him—it’s in the news, it’s in other places,” Robertson said. “There is disrespect now for our national anthem, disrespect for our veterans, disrespect for the institutions of our government, disrespect for the court system. All the way up and down the line, disrespect.”
“Until there is biblical authority,” Robertson continued, “there has to be some controlling authority in our society and there is none. And when there is no vision of God, the people run amok … and we have taken from the American people the vision of God, the whole idea of reward and punishment, an ultimate judge of all our actions, we’ve taken that away. When there is no vision of God, the people run amok.”
Before President Trump coming into office, Robertson held no such position. Certainly, the lack of public dissent was present but it is only now, with Trump as president Robertson blames lack of compliance to the government as being at the heart of America’s evils. It begs the question- why now?
The article continues:
Robertson didn’t explain why so many mass shootings occurred beforeDonald Trump entered office and the NFL protests against racial injustice began… I’m sure there’s a logical explanation.
Though I should mention that, when a man murdered people in a Sikh temple in 2012, Robertson blamed atheists who “hate God.” And last year, after the Pulse nightclub massacre, Robertson urged conservatives not to get involved and let LGBTQ people and radical Muslims “kill themselves.”
But this time? This time, it’s the fault of liberals for criticizing a man so beholden to the Right, he let Pat Robertson conduct one of the only one-on-one interviews he’s had with the press.
Watch the video below and see Robertson express his stance.
What are your thoughts on the matter? Do you think that Robertson has a point as to his reasoning behind the shooting, or do you think that he is just taking advantage of a terrible situation to prosthelytize Christianity? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
