Students called her “the bad nun” – A nun is arrested for helping priests rape dozens of children at a school for the hearing impaired in Argentina.
According to multiple reports Kosaka Kumiko was arrested late last week for helping five priests sexually abuse dozens of deaf children at an Argentinian Catholic school.
Kumiko, 42, has been charged with helping priests rape deaf children and has also been accused of physically abusing children at the Antonio Provolo Institute, a Catholic school for the hearing impaired.
The Washington Post reports:
The nun, named Kosaka Kumiko, was arrested and charged Friday on suspicion of helping priests sexually abuse children at the Antonio Provolo Institute, a school for the hearing-impaired in the Mendoza province of Argentina, authorities said. She was also charged with physically abusing the students.
More details from The Daily Mail:
Kosaka Kumiko, 42, was charged with helping the priests with anal and vaginal rapes, fondling and oral sex, which were allegedly committed in the bathrooms, dormitories, garden and a basement at the school in Lujan de Cuyo, a city about 620 miles northwest of Buenos Aires.
In court, wearing her habit and a bulletproof vest, Kumiko denied the allegations, declaring:
I knew nothing of the abuses, I watched over the children… I’m innocent… I did not know about the abuses. I am a good person that has given my life to God.
Kumiko claims the allegations against her are a “strategy of the victims’ families to get money,” adding that the wave of accusations against priests and nuns is nothing more than “a campaign of discrediting the Church, intended to defile an entire religious order.”
Before her arrest Kumiko had been a fugitive, “believed to have been hidden in northeast Argentina or in a bordering country.” She had been on the run for about a month before turning herself in late last week.
Bottom line: Bad Nun!
