BREAKING NEWS: Republican with Machete Attacks Liberals During Kentucky Campus “Day of Reckoning”

Police in Kentucky have arrested a man for attacking a woman at a Café at Transylvania University in Lexington after asking patrons their political affiliation.

Witnesses said that if the response was “Republican” the assailant deemed them “safe”. The un-named man whom police say was a former student was wielding a machete and had a bag full of knives exclaiming that today was “The day of reckoning”.

As the matter is still ongoing, the motivation for the attack is still under question but onlookers and witnesses, the incident was clearly politically motivated.

As Reported by Travis Gettys for Raw Story:

A man armed with a machete and a bag full of knives seriously injured a Kentucky student Friday morning in a politically motivated attack at a campus coffee shop.

The assailant, whose name has not been released, brought weapons into Jazzman’s Cafe at Transylvania University in Lexington, where he made a bizarre proclamation and then asked other customers about their political affiliation, reported the Lexington Herald-Leader.

“The day of reckoning is here,” the man said, according to witnesses.

He then approached two women at the café.

“He asked the first girl if she was a Democrat or a Republican, she said Republican, (and) he said okay, then asked some other girl,” said witness Michael Soder. “By that time, some of my friends were running out and yelling for us to leave, and I tried to stay behind to see if — I mean I didn’t know what to do, I wanted to help, but I knew I should get out of there.”

Another witness shared a similar account.

“He asked somebody what their political affiliation was, they said ‘Republican,’ and the guy said, ‘You are safe,’ and then I realized what was going on and started getting people out,” said witness Tristan Reynolds.

The assailant, who police said was a former student, then pulled out a machete and attacked a woman in the café.

The student was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, and another person was treated at the scene.

The assailant was arrested, but police have released no additional information about the suspect.

While there are no other descriptors of the alleged assailant, it begs the question as to how this person is being described. He is only attributed to being a former student- but what if he was black, would he instantly be labeled a thug? How about if he was brown, or Muslim? Surely this would be a terror attack- but because the details remain vague, for now law enforcement still question what the motivation for the attack was.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Do you think that Republicans who so often paint their opponents with a broad brush will use the “one bad apple” analogy in this case, and ironically urge non-Republicans to not judge them accordingly?  Join the discussion in the comments below.
