Washington GOP Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers was heckled while she was giving a speech at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day rally as protesters demanded the GOP save the Affordable Care Act, Erin Corbett of Raw Story reported.
“Save our health care,” protesters chanted at McMorris Rodgers after she said, “We may not always agree with one another, but we can come together and find common ground to create change and progress right here in Eastern Washington.” KXLY reported that protesters were also chanting “liar.”

McMorris Rodgers has consistently supported repealing Obamacare. She said in a statement, “No one who has coverage because of Obamacare today, will lose that coverage the day it’s repealed — we’re committed to a smooth and stable transition for those currently receiving care.”
The GOP has not provided a replacement plan for anyone to review, they only know they want to repeal Obamacare. According to NBC, this action would leave 18 million without insurance and would send cause premiums to soar for those that do have insurance.
In a statement following Monday’s rally, a spokesperson for McMorris Rodgers told KXLY:
“Today’s Martin Luther King Jr., Day Rally and Unity March was about unifying around the core values that we, as Americans, all share, which is why the Congresswoman was honored to be invited to speak and share her thoughts on unity. The Congresswoman looks forward to keeping the lines of communication open when discussing how to ensure a smooth and stable transition out of Obamacare to put in place a 21st Century health care system.”
