Cincinnati Killer Cop Is Out of Jail and Demanding His Job Back

The University of Cincinnati police officer who recently shot and killed Sam DuBose over an incorrectly attached front license plate has just filed a grievance through his police union representative to get his job back.

The same day he got out on bail, Raymond Tensing demanded that he get his job back with the University of Cincinnati Police Department.

Thomas Fehr, a representative from the Fraternal Order of Police-Ohio Labor Council, claimed that a representative from the FOP filed on behalf of Tensing Thursday, the same day he was out of jail.

Tensing fatally shot motorist Sam DuBose on July 19 in Mount Auburn, near the University of Cincinnati.

Tensing was wearing a body camera that recorded the exchange, which led to his recent indictment and arrest on Wednesday.

The University promptly and logically fired him from the police force. But the FOP is contesting that and demanding that he be rehired immediately, in accordance with his three-year contract at the campus department.

“We filed the grievance, No. 1 because there was no just cause, and No. 2 because he was not afforded his due process rights under the contract,” Fehr stated.

University spokeswoman Michele Ralston said on Friday that, “The university stands by its decision to terminate Officer Ray Tensing.”

The grievance read that “Officer Tensing was terminated on 7/29/2015 without just cause for an on-duty fatal shooting. While Officer Tensing was indicted on a charge of murder, the indictment is not a conviction. Officer Tensing was also denied his due process rights of a pre-disciplinary hearing under the contract.”

The FOP demanded that Tensing be reinstated immediately, saying that the rehiring “is to be made whole for all back pay and benefits including but not limited to sick time, vacation time, holidays, shift differential, pension contributions etc. afforded under the current contract.”

“The contract language says that if you’re going to discipline an employee for anything that involves loss of pay, suspension, demotion or termination, the university is required to have a pre-disciplinary conference with the employee. That was not done,” Fehr added. “They are also required to give the employee a copy of the formal charges, and that was not done. They just fired him and didn’t follow due process.”
